Final thoughts

Thank you everyone for a fantastic semester. I was floored by your finals, grateful for all your hard work, and participation on Wednesday.
I have one last thing to ask of you. Please send me low to medium resolution images of your final work. This is for my higher ups and helps me communicate the way in which the class operates. You can zip the files and use yousendit.com if you like.

thanks again!

Expectations for the Final

Ok here we go. I understand there has been some confusion about what is expected for the final. My apologies for that.

The critique is the 13th and if possible (as in everyone's schedules allow,) I would like to begin around 10 and go till 6 with a nice break in the middle. If some people have to come a little late or leave early with good reason, we will deal with it.
The only reason I can see at this point to crit in finals week is if we split the class. At this point I don't see a need to do this. But, if you all would weigh in that would be very helpful.

In terms of prints this is what I would like to see. 10-25(or even more) prints depending on size and type of project. If you come in with 10 prints they should be larger or your project should demand that few prints.

These prints will be in addition to any books or projections or websites that you decide to make.

Questions? Please do call or email.

Next week would be best for final feedback and last minute technical or editing help.

Spring Break!

Ok two assignments for this one...

First we are going with the panoramic images that we demoed in class. I would like to see 5 of these (related) images. Please print them on small paper and also have the full res files for review in class.

Second is the "tell me a secret" assignment. This is where you tell us something about yourself that most people don't know. Use 10 images to do this.

Bring in prints.

have a wonderful time!

Ok Assignment for next week!!!

NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY
Ok, so it is warming up and I think it is time for night photography season.
Please shoot 100 images to create 5-10 finished images. Please consider the different color temperatures that night lights make. Also stay away from sodium vapor lights (these are they super orange and are also not full spectrum, which means that you cannot effectively correct for their light and get lots of good color.)

For the crit, you will bring in 10 finished B&W prints of your strangers and 5-10 color prints of your night photography. Get GOING!!!!

Next Assignment

Firstly, my apologies for the printing snafu.

We will be printing in class next week and getting everyone up to speed with that.

Regarding the assignment, we will be shooting strangers this week.

Please meet and photograph 10 strangers. Use the "I am a photo student" line.
(it really works!)

I would like you to photograph these people from the front (an in a non-surveillance type of approach.)

Please get and record their names as well.

Something to remember: if you are really scared, there is probably a reason. Consider leaving campus. Stay away from kennedy plaza (too many photo students lurking.)

Get creative and also think about how these images will work as a group.

Next week we will be printing and having one on one meetings. The following week is CRIT!

I am around this weekend so if you run into trouble, let me know.
